Celebremos el Niņo: A Mexican Baroque Christmas Early Mexican music resounds in this joyful program of dances, ballads and villancios from the great cathedrals of Puebla and Mexico City, accompanied by viol, vihuela, percussion. "...the compulsion is often to close one's eyes and just bask in the sounds of rich, resonant singing." MINNEAPOLIS STAR-TRIBUNE
The River Arts Center Collaboration
For this concert, our journey takes us not only across the border to Mexico, but also across the state line to Minnesota, and across county lines to Prairie du Sac and Sauk Prairie.
As the only presenter in the entire state of Wisconsin that focuses exclusively on historically informed performances of Medieval, Renaissance, and early Baroque music, EMN aims to ensure the continued vitality of the arts across Wisconsin, as well as in the immediate vicinity of Milwaukee. As a result of our membership in the Wisconsin Presenters Association, we were able to develop this concert as a collaborative effort with The River Arts Center, which serves the communities of Prairie du Sac and Sauk Prairie.
This Milwaukee concert will be repeated on Sunday afternoon, December 14th, at The River Arts Center, a comprehensive cultural center that was established in 2000 to serve the two communities, as well as the Sauk Prairie School District.Members of the Rose Ensemble will also do a workshop with the choral organizations at the high school on Monday morning, before returning to St. Paul.
We appreciate this opportunity to increase the visibility of early music throughout the region, and thank the administration of The River Arts Center for their participation with us in this effort.www.riverartscenter.org
